New Adventures In 3D Rendering, Part 2
Continuing my adventures with the Iray rendering engine, I bring you my latest creation with DAZ Studio, entitled, "The Gang's All Here." It's a rendering of the main heroes of my novel, The Technowizard Guardians Of The Infinite Worlds Of Fandom, with a guest-spot photobomb by Cthulu, for some reason. From left to right: Misto, Gadget, Dizzy, Gygax, and of course, Akasha.
The only problem with using the Iray rendering engine is that since it wasn't built to use the computer's built-in CPU as its main source of rendering horsepower — it was designed around Nvidia's CUDA graphics-computing architecture instead — it runs rather slowly on my computer. (I do not have an Nvidia graphics card; I have a Mac, and therefore an AMD graphics card instead; in fact, since this is a Mac Pro, I have two AMD graphics cards . . . a double-barreled shotgun of nothing, when it comes to the Iray rendering engine.) The practical upshot of this is that I'm forced to rely on my computer's CPU, on which Iray runs slowly at times, and that takes for-ev-er to churn out a decently "converged" render.
But anyhow, I digress! Feast your eyes on my latest render!
